ELECTROLYSIS
Electrolysis is a
permanent hair removal solution. This 100 years old method of hair
removal has withstood the test of time! Any color of hair, black, gray,
red, white, can be treated with electrolysis. Areas such as chin,
eyebrows, lip, hairline, and ears can be treated with electrolysis.
Electrolysis is done by trained electrologists that utilize the most
up-to-date effective methods of sterilization, dis-infection, and
antisepsis.
An electrologist inserts a
fine probe into the hair follicle alongside the hair. A small amount of
electric current is then delivered to the probe by an electronic device
called the epilator. The electric current destroys the hair root by heat
and chemical action. Hair grows in three different phases. Anagen,
Catagen, and Telogen. Hair is best eliminated in its growth cycle.
Therefore, electrolysis requires a series of treatments. The treatment
times and frequency will decrease over time as the amount of hair
decreases.
What Does it Feel
Like?
Depending on what area you
have treated , the discomfort varies. You may hardly even notice the
insertion of the probe, but the feeling caused by the insertion of the
probe has been described as a slight sting. Many find this treatment
very tolerable.
What Should I
Expect?
Side effects are usually
minimal, but may include some redness and swelling. Most patients return
to their normal routine immediately. After treatment care should be
followed. Your electrologist will go over this with you.
Laser hair removal is a
non- invasive approach to permanent hair removal and long term
reduction. With today’s advanced laser technology, both men and women
can have unwanted hair removed from any area on the body. Laser provides
hair removal at the speed of light. The technicians at American
Electrolysis use the
Candela Alexandrite Laser.
How Does it Work?
The GentleLase produces a
beam of highly concentrated light. Without damaging the surrounding
tissue, controlled pulses of light penetrate the skin and are absorbed
by the melanin of the hair. The laser energy is transformed into heat,
which destroys the hair follicle. The heat discourages and destroys the
potential for re-growth. The skin is further protected during the
treatment by cooling the upper layers, which provides patients with more
comfort.
What Are the
Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?
It combines the speed of
shaving with the lasting results promised by electrolysis. Laser Hair
Removal is effective on almost any area of the body where smoother,
younger, hair free skin is desired.
How Many Treatments
will I need?
The number of treatments you
may require for optimal long-lasting benefits depends on the area you
wish to have treated, your skin type and your hair’s growth cycles. We
treat until the hair is gone. Usually four to eight treatments are
sufficient; however, your hair grows in cycles and many factors
influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication
and metabolism all play a part in the location, thickness and resilience
of your hair.
The laser shows the growing
capacity of follicles in the growth cycle at the time of treatment. Since
some hair follicles may enter their growth cycle after treatment, multiple
treatments may be required to deliver optimal results. Treatment results
will vary from patient to patient depending on skin and hair color.
What Conditions Are
Treated With the Laser?
Hair removal techniques,
such as shaving, plucking, and waxing provide only temporary results. Until
now, the only permanent way to remove the hair has been electrolysis.
Scarring, allergic reactions, and ingrown hairs are common side effects of
all temporary methods. The GentleLase safely removes unwanted hair without
damaging the delicate pores and structures of the skin. Facial and bikini
areas are usually completed in less than ten minutes: legs, backs and larger
areas can take longer.
